Trip Overview

Nominated as the best mountain environment, Kanchenjunga trek is one of the spectacular and most rewarding treks in Nepal bringing striking view of south face of Kanchenjunga (8,586m), third highest peak in the world. Kanchenjunga trekking is best for those who seek to enjoy the pleasure of trekking along with adventurous camping. The region is remote and sparsely populated with very basic teahouse facilities (but is in improving state). The dramatic contrast of landscapes, presence of unique culture and sheer beauty of long fabled mountain range is simply humbling and hugely rewarding. Kanchenjunga region was not affected by recent earthquake.

Trekking to Kanchenjunga begins after flying lowland Biratnagar and taking an airstrip to Suketar. Truly a heaven, the trail meanders through moss-laden forest blessed with profusion of flora and fauna and through the picture of grazing yaks, mountain sheep and alpine village. The trail is incredibly rewarding in spring when the forest of rhododendron, giant magnolias and plentiful wild flora are in state of full boom. Limbu and Rai are the major inhabitants of the region. March to May and September to November are the best seasons from Kanchenjungatrekking.
